We are very happy that we have been worshipping at 1304 Merritt Dr. for the last 56 year. God is Good!! We have over 307 members on our roll, and to God’s glory we received six this year–2015 The church has been blessed to have had an array of Pastors, laity, and many friends to keep the work of Christ going in the community.
The present Pastor, Rev. Phyllis Coates, now in her 2nd year, welcomes each of you and appreciates your continued support of this Church.
Our facility is not just used on Sunday. It is used for many ministries within the county during the week. To mention a few, we welcome Nar-Anon, NA, and AA groups, Guilford County Board of Elections, the Office of the United Methodist Church, Conference Office of the United Methodist Church, Sickle Cell Foundation, NC Mentor, Hunter School, and a Girl Scout Troop. We have two other churches using our facilities. We also have the Glenn Burleigh Choir based from this Church.
Our ministries are out to the world–the Prayer Wheel (which gets requests from all over the southeast), the United Methodist Women’s Circles (Faith, Hope and Love), the United Methodist Men, the United Methodist Youth, Children’s Church, and the Intercessory Prayer Group. We are, also, part of a Missional Network Group. St. John’s has several Sunday school classes for all age groups. We have a ministry geared for Seniors called PrimeTimers. We also have a ministry of Music for all ages and styles of music.
St. John’s supports many missions such as Teen Challenge, Hannah’s Haven, Hunter Elementary School, Greensboro Urban Ministry, Samaritan’s Purse, Henderson Settlement, and God’s Helping Hand Food Pantry. We volunteer in Guilford County Schools, for Crop Walk, for The Interactive Resource Center, and many other ministries.
Our youth have a new found home at St. John’s. They now have a new Sunday School class and their own classroom. They are in their second year of their journey here.
Our past is gone as we cherish our history. Our future is yet ahead. We are now in the present–“That’s why it is a gift.” Quote from the former Bears football coach.
We want you to know that St. John’s United Methodist is a praying church and a loving church.
God is here! May God continue to bless this Church and its missions as we continue to grow spiritually.
