There are numerous of activities for the children associated with St. John’s United Methodist Church.
Nursery and Terrific Toddlers – We have two childcare rooms during the worship hour, each with a paid employee and a volunteer (s). For more information on the employees see our staff page.
Children’s Time – As part of the worship hour all children are invited down to the altar for a special time with the pastor or another member of the church. These times are normally based on the sermon message for the day.
Acolytes – Children, 3rd grade and older are encouraged to become acolytes, serving the church by bringing the “light of Christ” into the worship and taking it out again into the world.
Children’s Church – Following the Children’s Time, the children are led to a special worship/teaching time devoted especially to their needs. Presently the church is using the “One-Room Sunday School” as its basic materials for this time.
Children’s Music – During special times of the year, the children prepare music to share in a program or the worship services.
Vacation Bible School and other activities – Yearly, the church hosts a Vacation Bible School for the children associated with the church and the community. In addition, special events take place throughout the year, including bowling, trips to the nursing homes, lock-ins, cookie baking for shut-ins, mission projects, and special projects to honor mothers and fathers.
